Dolly Parton has worked tirelessly to help little children around the world get a head start on reading with her Imagination Library program. The global endeavor provides free books to kids each month through the mail, and one million children now receive those books every month.

The Imagination Library program has been a runaway success, and now, it’s inspired Dolly to write and record a new tropical-sounding song called “Imagination.” The track appears on Dolly’s new children’s album, “I Believe in You,” and Dolly says it’s got great advice for kids facing some time alone after they’ve gotten in trouble.

In this clip premiering exclusively on Rare Country, Dolly says, “This one is for children, because sometimes when you’ve got time out, or you’ve got to go to your room, you just get in there and let your mind take you wherever you want to go instead of just pouting and brooding and sulking all day. So, get in there and go places in your mind.”

Using her imagination has long been the key to Dolly’s success writing songs like this one, as well as her big hits like “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Dolly explains, “That’s how I unwind writing songs. I just let my imagination take me everywhere. In this one, you can go all the way to Mexico if you want to, in this little song.”

You’ll be able to buy a physical copy of the album this Friday, Oct. 13, and fans who pre-order through Dolly’s Imagination Library site will help raise money for the organization’s efforts.
